What is PAPSS?
PAPSS is a centralized payment and settlement infrastructure for intra-African trade and commerce. PAPSS enables instant, cross-border transactions in local currencies between African markets by simplifying cross-border transactions and reducing the dependency on hard currencies for these transactions.
How it works
PAPSS uses a digital platform to facilitate real-time clearing and settlement of cross-border transactions, allowing businesses and individuals to transact seamlessly across Africa. The sender transfers funds in his/her local currency and the beneficiary receives in his/her local currency. PAPSS is available to individuals and businesses of all sizes, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Benefits
• Reduced transaction costs
• Increased efficiency and speed of transactions
• Improved transparency and accountability
PAPSS uses state-of-the-art security protocols and encryption to protect transactions and user data. The system is also subject to rigorous regulatory oversight and compliance with international standards, including the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
Participating countries:
• Ghana
• Nigeria
• The Gambia
• Liberia
