CBG GOES GREEN

As part of the “Green Ghana” campaign, Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD (CBG) has carried out a tree planting exercise in the Hwehwe Forest Reserve in Kwahu Mpraeso in the Eastern Region of Ghana

The initiative, under the theme “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow: CBG’s Commitment,” aims to plant 60,000 trees over the next three years. It was met with enthusiastic participation from staff, local community members, and environmental partners.

The Managing Director, Mr. Daniel Wilson Addo, led the charge by symbolically planting the first tree.

He reiterated the bank’s dedication to environmental stewardship and emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “As an organization, we have a responsibility to wider stakeholders, including the communities in which we operate. Today, we are not just planting trees but investing in the future of our planet. Our commitment to environmental sustainability goes beyond our operations, and we are proud to support the national effort to restore Ghana’s forests and combat climate change.”

Community leaders, Forestry Commission officials, and residents praised CBG for this initiative. Nana Sarfoa Agyapoma, the Queen Mother of Kwahu Hwehwe, lauded the Bank for selecting their community and encouraged other corporations to follow CBG’s example in restoring Ghana’s forest cover.

Vice President of the Ghana Institute of Foresters (GIF), Isaac Adonteng, also commended the Bank’s efforts and gave assurance that GIF would provide technical support and expertise to any organization involved in tree planting. Mr. Addo was joined in the tree-planting exercise by other management members including John Obiri, Gerald Quartey, Charles Appiah and Samuel Chiatey Barketey.
